ABOUT US
The Beam Foundation believes in taking action; that is why we have an extensive volunteer initiative. The activities hosted by The Beam Foundation provide our volunteers with an opportunity to give back to their communities while touching the lives of many. Through these activities our volunteers not only get the opportunity to make a difference, but in return are left with wonderful memories that provide them with a lasting positive experience. Our volunteers are not only supporting a cause; they are supporting a paradigm, a paradigm, that supports the idea that if we work together to make a difference, we as a group, can leave a legacy for future generations.
The Birth of the Beam Foundation
Throughout the history of Pegasus Logistics Group, a worldwide logistics and transportation company, its employees have followed the example of their leader and founder, Ken Beam, in his focus on bringing a passionate approach to all aspects of their lives. In 2004, Ken's passion infected some of the employees' and their spouses with the idea to take fundraising efforts to a new level. In an unbelievable four weeks, a silent auction sprung out of an immense energy fueled by the new possibilities of actually changing the world around them. The initial fundraising goal that was set forth was "blown out of the water," raising over $17,000. The effort was furthered with individual efforts by the employees of Pegasus, combining to raise a total of $35,000, which was donated to the American Lung Association.
More importantly, the combined efforts allowed everyone to realize what a powerful impact a small group of people can make with the right vision. Ken and Darla Beam's dream was born in 2005, as The Beam Foundation hosted its first annual golf tournament and auction at the Tribute, which raised an almost unheard of first year mark of $70,000.
